Taiwan also called Formosa is a favorite destination for ESL teachers looking for
a good cultural experience. There are many beautiful small island chains within
a short 1/2 hour domestic flight. Some of them are almost totally deserted and
with beautiful beaches and dramatic views. There are also many other great "get
away" places on the island (pictures below). The staff and teachers at our school go on
great "day trips" all the time. Taiwan is also only a "hop, skip" from other
cool locations around Asia (Japan, Korea, Singapore, HK, Philippines, Vietnam, etc.).
Taichung city is located in Central Taiwan with a reputation as having the best
climate on the island (26-36 degrees/Summer, 10-20/Winter). Population 1,000,000 and the gateway to many great
sightseeing places on the island and beyond.
